Hi all! My name is Kelly Rhodes and I’m a hair fairy. I happened into my unique role in the hair

world through a strange series of coincidences that lead me to fairy hair and renaissance

festival hair braiding. It started as something I did at parties and on weekends, shifted into a

side hustle, and has become my whole lifestyle.

It’s been an adventure and a journey to get here, as my background includes teaching,

advertising, outdoor education, theater, youth programs, and an assortment of other things.

I have 10 years of experience tying hair tinsel at renaissance festivals, fantasy events, fairs,

parties, and basically anywhere anyone will let me. As fairy hair (or hair tinsel, or sparkly things,

or one of the many names it goes by) has become more popular, I have had more opportunities

to make things sparkly and I’m thrilled to get to bring my expertise to Fringe.

I’ve also been braiding for 7 years and have had the joy of braiding at renaissance festivals, for

birthday parties, for formal dances, for weddings, in preparations for marathons, and for

underwater mermaid photo shoots.

I’ve done hair at renaissance festivals, fairy festivals, anime conventions, gatherings of vikings,

professional mermaid conventions, and at all of them I can usually be found by following the

cries of “let me play with your hair!” I love the opportunity to make people feel special and add a

little whimsy to the world.

Whimsy and laughter are at the core of most things I do. I spend a lot of my time dressed up as

a fairy or in other costumes I’ve spent more time and money on than I’m strictly proud of. I will

enthusiastically look at pretty much any eccentric outfit you’ve ever worn and then come up with

an elaborate braid style I’d love to do to go with it. And while we plot that, I’d love to add some

sparkle to your everyday!
